This page will list alternative options to approach getting employed or gaining experience in a particular field. By alternative, I mean relatively non-traditional approaches like Remote work and bidding for gigs. # Flexjobs [https://www.flexjobs.com/ Flexjobs] is a portal that lists remote jobs of all kinds of job profiles. Data Science related jobs are relatively few, though definitely not absent, and I am observing this number to have increased in 2019, as compared to 2018. # The Memo [No -longer active apparently] [https://thememo.substack.com/ The Memo] is a free newsletter : > "The Memo features a variety of remote roles at early-stage startups. The goal is to connect 1,000+ remoters with startup positions by 2020." I think there is a lot of potential with the goal behind this newsletter, and I've signed on as a founding member. # Craigslist (for Vancouver) The classifieds may be a good place to start looking for work in times like these. This works well atleast for some purposes in some places, for example in Vancouver. Here are some useful links: - [Vancouver craigslist](https://vancouver.craigslist.org/bnc/mar/d/burnaby-digital-marketing-specialist/7137363679.html) - [vancouver, BC software/qa/dba/etc - craigslist](https://vancouver.craigslist.org/search/sof?searchNearby=1) - [vancouver, BC architect/engineer/cad - craigslist](https://vancouver.craigslist.org/d/architect-engineer-cad/search/egr?searchNearby=1) - [vancouver, BC business/mgmt - craigslist](https://vancouver.craigslist.org/d/business-mgmt/search/bus?searchNearby=1)
