Boeing Vancouver is seeking a Data Scientist reporting to the Senior Manager of Data Science & Analytics working out of the Vancouver, British Columbia office. The Data Scientist will apply machine learning, statistical, and other analytics techniques within the fast-growing domain of data science to the challenges of aviation and aerospace. You will help develop and perfect new capabilities into our applications and pipelines. You will work closely with our customers, developing understanding of their problems, priorities and business needs. You will bring your data science specialty to cross-functional project teams to help launch and maintain leading-edge operational solutions around the world. In particular, the Data Scientist will be responsible for machine-learning, statistics and optimization components for cloud applications supporting Digital Solutions & Analytics portfolio of aerospace operations and maintenance digital products.

Position Responsibilities: Participates in one or more cross-functional data science development teams supporting engineering, maintenance or flight operations of different programs Develops both ad hoc and production-level analytics tools using techniques such as: machine learning statistical analysis mathematical optimization simulation Conducts evaluation, validation and continuous performance monitoring of supported applications, models and analyses Communicates with customers to understand requirements and communicate deliverables/results Helps setup of data and modeling pipelines Champions culture of quality, learning, trust, and collaborative energy

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
3+ years’ experience in Data Science Must be proficient in Python (special emphasis on Pandas, sklearn, tensorflow) and SQL Must have experience in formal collaborative development environment and version control (e.g., Gitlab) Candidate must consent to Canadian Government Controlled Goods Program (CGP) assessment. Individual must not pose a risk for safeguarding of controlled goods. Must have post-secondary education in related field Must be legally able to work in Canada
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): Domain knowledge in the aviation & aerospace industry is an asset Expertise in one of the following enabling technologies: Cloud technologies (e.g, Azure, Google Cloud, AWS) Large-scale data analysis technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Cassandra, Pig, Hive) Project management knowledge (PMBOK, Agile, Kanban) is an asset Experience in production-quality data and modeling pipeline development Experience in production-quality analytics services deployment
Typical Education and Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD?, Master+3 years’ related work experience, 9 years’ related work experience, etc.).
