About the role: A GCP Data Engineer creates data pipelines in GCP or uses other built-in GCP technologies to ingest data from different data systems (available on-premises or in one or more public clouds), integrate this data, cleanse it, transform it, normalize it, enrich it, and make it available for analytics. The candidate will work in a remote self-governed team of highly motivated professionals analyzing and processing huge volumes of data from tens of near-real-time sources for databases holding petabytes of data. The successful candidates will have: - 7+ years of overall Data Engineering experience - 3+ years of GCP experience designing and developing solutions on Google Cloud Platform, including experience with on-prem to GCP migration - 3+ years of developing code using Python, Java, or Scala - Working experience with Apache/Confluent Kafka, Kafka topics, brokers, stream processing and event streaming platforms. - Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance best practices in a cloud environment. - Working knowledge and experience with containerization technologies and orchestration tools (Docker, OpenShift, Kubernetes, GKE, CloudRun) - Solid SQL knowledge and experience with relational and NoSQL Databases - Experience with Terraform or other IaC tools - Experience with CI/CD Tools (Git, GitLab, Jira, Jenkins) - Solid Experience with Linux Operating Systems, command line utilities and shell scripting. - BSc Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related discipline - Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization - Dedicated to producing quality code and dedicated to best practices such as automated testing, code reviews, pair programming, test driven development, continuous integration, and continuous deployment.
