We favor player-coaches who can get dirty and perform analyses, as well as hire and inspire others to do so for them. - *Help us make data-driven decisions.* Provide high quality, actionable data to other members of the group. - *Help us improve Streamlit itself!* Work with the CEO and the product team to test new Streamlit features and concepts in our own data infrastructure. - *Hire a team of "A player" data scientists and engineers* to provide high quality, actionable data to our product, marketing, and sales teams. - *Build a culture of foundational data excellence* to ensure that Streamlit has well documented, performant, and rational data infrastructure across all our tools (Python, Github, SQL, DBT, BigQuery, Palumi, Spot, Heap, Google Analytics, Segment). - *Select and manage data science vendors* and consultants to help with individual analyses and data infrastructure projects. - *Contribute to the strategic direction of Data Science at Streamlit.* Help develop a strategic architecture for data science at Streamlit. Perform strategic visioning exercises with your team and with execs. Participate in quarterly OKR planning. - *Manage well.* Run tight meetings. Help develop your subordinates' careers. Provide cogent synthesis of your team's activities to senior executives. Pay close attention to individual productivity and motivation. - *Act as a role model*. Hold yourself to the highest ethical and empathetic standards. Model Streamlit's values throughout the company.‍ # It's important to us that you have... - Ability to *hire and manage* a happy, high-performing, and process-oriented team. - Proficiency in *Python*, *Streamlit* (have built and deployed at least one app), *SQL*, *DBT*, *Numpy*, and *Pandas.* - (Bonus: *Scikit-Learn*, *Pytorch*, *Altair*, *Prophet*) - Statistical expertise up to a mid-level data scientist, such as using common Python libraries to perform statistical tasks such regression, classification, unsupervised clustering, dimension reduction, visualization, and various standard computer vision and NLP tasks. - Data knowledge: experience with data collection, annotation, cleaning, and wrangling. - Understanding of machine learning: be able to hire and understand a true machine learning engineer, evaluate model complexity, understand feature engineering, feature management, model deployment, etc. - An affinity for beautiful presentation.
