I’m Shreyas Ragavan.
I typically use the nick shrysr on IRC channels and Github.
This wiki has been set up to collect and share information related to companies and job opportunities related to my interest (particularly - Data Science at the moment). Since I’m based in Canada - the information is predominantly related to Canada, though I intend to expand this in different ways over time.
My primary goal is to host this material as a ready reference for several reasons.
I use Emacs for all my workflows and in general store the information you see in this wiki within Org mode documents, integrated with my workflow. This makes it very easy for me to manage.
However, there is sometimes to have some kind of shareable URL to record job descriptions, or a simple way to share updates with contacts and well wishers. While I can export content from Emacs to static websites or even documentation engines - I’m also interested in comments and possibly helping others.
A blog (whether based on Wordpress or Static generators like Hugo) felt inefficient and constrained for this workflow and was not conducive to sharing and managing information or documentation as much as a wiki can potentially be. As this information grows, I think the information here will be useful to others as a reference. In any case, it appears in this day and age that a job search could be a perpetual task.
This wiki running on Oddmuse.
Why oddmuse? I find it relatively easy or even pleasurable to use and simple to deploy. I like the general ease of creating and collecting pages with tags and searches in oddmuse. I’ve also tried other wiki systems, but my view is that oddmuse offers a good balance between necessary (and cool!) features and size of code base. (Not that I know any Perl). Well, I just like oddmuse and I can also edit wiki pages from Emacs!
Beyond all this, the EmacsWiki runs on oddmuse ;)
Hat tip to bandali on #emacs for directing me towards Oddmuse. Visit #oddmuse on Libera to talk to kensanata, AlexDaniel and others who created + drive the development of Oddmuse, and others.
