We are looking for a driven Senior Data Scientist, with a specialization in training RAG layers for large language models (LLMs) including llama and GPT to join our growing team. This is an applied machine learning position and not a research role. This role will encompass scoping projects from conception through to delivery and developing and deploying applications into production. to join our growing team. Biocode Ai develops patient management, diagnosis and treatment tools with a current focus on the Veterinary industry.

The applicant should be both a self-starter and team oriented working with Full-Stack Engineers, Project Managers, Doctors and Data Scientists. This role has a tremendous opportunity to grow with the company either toward a technical path of architecture and technical leadership or toward a management path overseeing a growing team of Ai Engineers and Data Scientists.

Job Description

• Working with LLM application architecture
• Training and testing RAG layers
• Prompt engineering including the creation and refinement of high-quality prompts and templates that steer the performance and interactions of Large Language Models (LLMs)
• Proficient in the design, implementation, and assessment of agents and tools powered by LLMs, including strategies for their effective management
• Designing test suites and helping to define accuracy and precision metrics
• Exploring and testing non-ML solutions to meet business and clinical objectives of the practitioners
• Working with subject matter experts (Veterinarians and users) to define success metrics and training parameters

Experience and Job qualifications

• 5+ years of data science experience, minimum 2 years of experience with applied machine learning engineering in production.
• Fluent in Python, SQL
• Experience working with vector databases (Examples: Weaviate and Chroma DB)
• Proficient with machine learning libraries such as HuggingFace?, LangChain?, LlamaIndex?, PyTorch?, TensorFlow?
• Strong understanding of Natural Language Processing techniques, training Neural Networks, and writing unit tests and accuracy tests for deployment into production
• Experience working with the Chat GPT API, Llama 2 or Llama 3
• Proficient in prompt engineering, fine-tuning embedding models, and evaluating and optimizing retrieval methods
• Excellent at debugging and troubleshooting code
• Passion for well structured, quality code
• A bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering, data science, or equivalent
• Experience working with cloud infrastructure, GCP an asset
• Must have experience with GitHub?

Location, Salary & Benefits

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

Vancouver, BC, Canada, San Francisco, CA, USA and Seattle, WA, USA

This can be either an in-office or remote, work-from-home position with the requirement for in-person meetings up to twice quarterly. Candidates that wish for an office setting either full or part time will have access to our Vancouver, BC Yaletown location, located in the heart of the city’s tech vibe. Competitive compensation commensurate with experience including full benefits, four weeks vacation plus semi-flexible working hours
