Join our Data team in Productboard and help us create and drive a data-first culture across the company. We strive to understand what drives our customers and what makes the most impact on our product. You can influence the entire analytics and tooling strategy, and you will have a chance to dive deep into Saas’s business and determine how it is measured.
This role can be based in either Vancouver, BC or the San Francisco Bay Area.
We will require this person to be onsite two days per week.
Our tech stack:
- You’ll work with the following frameworks, tools, and languages:
- Our stack is built mainly on dbt, Snowflake, Looker, Amplitude, Keboola, Segment, and AWS.
- Data pipelines and transformations are built mainly using SQL and ****Python
- Adopting DataOps? approach:
- Almost everything is versioned on Github.
- Code reviews
- Automated CI pipelines & checks (Github Actions)
- Agile development (Jira)
Responsibilities
- In this role, you will work closely with our Product, Engineering, and Data Analytics teams to build best-in-class infrastructure supporting data across the company. This strategic, high-impact role will also help shape the future of Productboard products and services.
- Design, build, and own the core data models and key infrastructure to manage data and usage across our product.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Product Management, IT, and Finance to inform product decision-making with data and to identify opportunities for system improvements
- Collaborate with the Engineering, IT, and Compliance teams to meet data governance requirements
- Think creatively to find optimal solutions to our complex, often unstructured problems
- Answer questions from the executive team for board reporting
Requirements
- Bachelors or above in quantitative field: Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Economics, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in designing, developing, and maintaining robust data models from structured and unstructured sources
- 5+ years of experience writing accurate and effective code in SQL (Python is a plus)
- Experience implementing and monitoring audits for data quality with massive data sets
- Experience proactively identifying opportunities to improve ETL & dashboard performance and cost
- Experience leveraging your excellent communication skills to thrive in ambiguous environments where problems are not well-defined and evolve quickly
- A desire to work with amazing, passionate people who care deeply about solving challenging problems to improve Productboard
- Last but not least - a collaborative attitude and a healthy dose of natural curiosity!
- Experience owning and proactively improving the data models for a functional area
- Experience collaborating directly with data science and product engineering teams
- Experience with modern data storage and processing technologies (i.e, BigQuery? SQL, Looker, Airflow, and dbt or similar)
- Experience with designing data architecture to power a variety of use cases, including experimentation
