As a Platform Specialist, you will use your knowledge of full stack cloud solutions to develop technical environments that allow for the continuous delivery of reliable, secure and scalable analytics products. You will deploy analytic infrastructure solutions, including orchestration, automated testing and quality control, continuous integration/deployments, versioning and environment management.

You will use your expertise to* :

Partner closely with Data Scientists and Big Data Engineers, and inspire and motivate teams to develop the right data, at the right time, to create business value at speed
Work on multiple projects as a technical team member or lead driving user story analysis and elaboration for technology requirements
Ensure all automated processes preserve data by managing the alignment of data availability and integration processes
Develop, construct and automate technology platforms that allow for leading edge analytical models
Perform technology and product research to better define requirements, resolve important issues and improve the overall capability of the technology stack
Translate complex functional and technical requirements into detailed, design, and high performing end to end technology solutions
Derive and develop the automation and promotion of technology platforms from development to test to production
Construct the production management and monitoring of the full technology stack

We’d like to review your application if you have…*

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

Seven years of progressive experience in a quantitative field designing and implementing (including deploying and translating) big data systems and platforms
Five years of experience building, maintaining and orchestrating Big Data pipelines and analytics solutions in an enterprise setting, using Agile development approaches
Data Warehousing experience: Hadoop, MapReduce?, HIVE, PIG, Apache Spark, Kafka
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or a related technical field
The ability to work in environments with significant ambiguity, can develop creative approaches to data problems, and you are curious and passionate about data in the context of business and industry implications
Expert knowledge of data modeling, with an understanding of different data structures and their benefits and limitations under particular use cases

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:*

You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
This role can also be supported from one of our hub locations (e.g. Mississauga, Fort McMurray?, Edmonton, Sarnia, Montreal)
